Driveway Design Ideas for North London Homes: Before and Design Visuals
Not sure what your driveway could look like? Below are six North London front gardens as they are today, each next to a design visualisation of a new resin bound or block paving driveway.
Please note: the second image in each pair is a design visualisation, not a photo of finished work. It shows the kind of result we plan with you at the design stage. Every project starts with a free home visit and a free 3D design of your own property, so you can see the layout, colour and edging before you commit.
1. Rose-brown resin bound driveway for a semi-detached home
Before

Design visualisation

The old block paving had sunk and stained. The design swaps it for a rose-brown resin bound surface framed by a double charcoal block border, new grey steps to the front door and a rendered planter wall with dark coping. The warm stone blend picks up the red brick, and resin bound is permeable, so rain drains straight through.
2. Golden resin bound driveway with a lawn island for a detached house
Before

Design visualisation

A wide frontage with tired paving. The design runs a golden resin bound surface across the whole driveway, edged in red brick, with a central lawn island planted with clipped box balls and low shrubs. Parking for several cars, with a softer, more welcoming front garden.
3. Silver-grey resin bound driveway and front path
Before

Design visualisation

Weeds through every joint and dark staining on the old slabs. The design uses a silver-grey resin bound surface with a charcoal block border and a divider strip that separates the driveway from the front path, plus a new step to the door. Resin has no joints, so weeds have nowhere to grow.
4. Buff block paving driveway with a double border
Before

Design visualisation

The existing paving had faded and lost its colour. The design relays the driveway in multi-tone buff block paving with a dark double border that follows the curve of the lawn, and adds a low kerbed planting bed under the bay window.
5. Grey herringbone block paving for a Victorian terrace
Before

Design visualisation

Uneven cobble setts in front of a period terrace. The design lays silver-grey block paving in a herringbone pattern, the strongest pattern for parking, framed by a charcoal and buff border, with a drainage channel along the boundary and the existing planting kept.
6. Red herringbone block paving for a Victorian villa
Before

Design visualisation

Worn, uneven sandstone in front of a striking white porch. The design uses brindle-red herringbone block paving with a charcoal border and a planted bed beside the bay, a classic look that suits red brick and period detail.
Resin bound or block paving?
Resin bound gives a smooth, jointless, permeable finish that suits modern and period homes. Block paving is very hard-wearing, easy to repair and works well in herringbone for heavy parking. Read more about resin bound driveways and block paving driveways.
